Effective September 26, 2026
This policy explains what Job Search by GreenRobot collects, why, and the choices you have. It covers jobsearch.greenrobot.com, remotedevjobs.greenrobot.com, aicareers.greenrobot.com (the "Sites") and the GreenRobot Jobs mobile apps, which show the Sites inside the app. The Sites are run by GreenRobot LLC ("we", "us"). This policy adds job-site specifics to the GreenRobot company privacy policy. Questions: info+jobsearch@greenrobot.com.
Just browsing. You can search jobs without an account. Our servers log the usual request data (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time) to keep the Sites running and secure. Your recent searches are kept in your own browser's local storage so the Recent tab works; they are not sent to us.
Registered users. If you create an account we store your email address, a hashed password (never the password itself), and anything you add to your profile: first and last name, bio, LinkedIn URL, keywords, and an optional avatar image. We also keep when you registered, verified your email and last logged in.
Sign in with Google. If you use Google sign-in, Google sends us your Google account ID, name, email address and profile picture URL, and tokens that keep you signed in. We do not read your Gmail, contacts or anything else in your Google account. You can disconnect Google from your profile page.
Job tracking. Jobs you mark as applied, the job title, company, link and any notes you write.
API accounts. If you request an API key we store your email, company name, use case, the key (hashed) and usage records for each request (endpoint, timing, IP address, browser or client string) for rate limiting and billing. Paid plans are billed by Stripe; we keep your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, never your card number.
Security records. Login attempts and rate-limit checks with the email or identifier used and the IP address, to block brute-force attacks and abuse.
Email. We send account emails (verification, password reset) through SendGrid. We do not send marketing email.
Essential. A session cookie keeps you logged in and protects forms against forgery. It is set on every visit, expires when the session ends, and needs no consent.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and searches are used. Google
sets _ga cookies for this. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland these
cookies are only set after you consent (see below); elsewhere they are set by default and you can opt out with
the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Advertising. The Sites and the apps are funded by ads from Google AdSense and Google AdMob. Google and its certified ad partners use cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) or your device's advertising identifier to show ads and to measure them. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, personalised ads are only shown with your consent; without it, Google shows non-personalised ads that do not use cookies for personalisation. How Google uses data from sites and apps that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can turn off ad personalisation at Google Ads Settings, and opt out of many other ad networks at aboutads.info/choices (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
The consent banner. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland
see a consent message provided by Google's consent management platform before analytics or advertising cookies
are used. You can consent, decline, or pick purposes. Visitors in US states with privacy laws see a
"Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link at the bottom of the page instead, which opts you out of
personalised advertising. Visitors elsewhere are not shown a banner because the law there does not require one;
the choices above still apply. Google stores your choice in cookies on this domain (for example
FCCDCF) so it is remembered on later visits.
Your switches. On the cookie choices page anyone can turn analytics cookies and personalised advertising off for these sites, wherever they are. The choice is kept in a cookie on your device for a year and applied before any Google script runs. We also honour the Global Privacy Control signal: if your browser sends it, personalised advertising is off automatically.
Other ways to control cookies. Every browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking the essential cookie signs you out; blocking the others does not affect searching.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decisions with legal effects.
Providers that process data on our behalf: Google (Analytics, AdSense/AdMob advertising, Sign in with Google), Stripe (API payments), SendGrid (account email) and our hosting providers, which run our servers in the United States and the European Union. Ad partners certified by Google receive the cookie and device data described in section 2 for advertising purposes. We disclose personal data to authorities only when the law requires it.
GreenRobot LLC is based in the United States, so your data is processed there. Where European law applies, transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for certified providers such as Google and Stripe, or on standard contractual clauses.
Everyone. You can edit your profile, disconnect Google, and delete your account from your profile page. Deleting your account removes your account record, profile, tokens, login records and API keys. For anything else, including a copy of your data, email info+jobsearch@greenrobot.com.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. You have the right to access, correct, delete and receive your data, to object to or restrict processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent at any time on the cookie choices page. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
US states with privacy laws (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and Texas). You have the right to know, correct and delete the personal information we hold, and to opt out of targeted advertising and of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for that purpose. We do not sell personal information; advertising cookies may count as "sharing" under California law. To opt out, turn off personalised advertising on the cookie choices page, use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link at the bottom of any page where your state's law applies, or send a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser, which we treat as an opt-out. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
The Sites are for job seekers and are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from them; if you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Connections use HTTPS, passwords are stored hashed, and access to our servers is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us if you notice anything wrong.
The GreenRobot Jobs apps for Android and iOS show the Sites in a web view, so everything above applies. In addition, Google AdMob shows banner ads in the apps and may use your device's advertising identifier; you can reset it or limit ad tracking in your device settings, and Google Analytics for Firebase reports anonymous app usage.
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. Significant changes will be announced on the Sites.
